About Cupola XS
The initiative aims to provide SMEs with the same level of inspiration and support in digitization that is typically available to startups. Cupola XS offers a dynamic and eco-friendly co-working space with private offices, complemented by access to university talent, digitization-focused coaching, financing resources, and a supportive network of like-minded professionals.
Housed within the iconic 'De Koepel' prison, a renowned national monument designed by justice architect W.C. Mason, the space features four levels of cells and a rich historical background. Following its closure in 2016, the site transitioned to hosting Syrian refugees before being earmarked for educational and residential development in collaboration with the municipality of Haarlem, the Panopticon foundation, the SRH Grupe, and the Global School for Entrepreneurship.
Architect André van Stigt and his team are spearheading the transformative renovation project, which not only repurposes the prison but also strengthens the integration of education, culture, and business. Through its initiatives at 'De Koepel', Cupola XS aims to merge digitization and internationalization to drive growth for SMEs and foster a vibrant business community.
